Pasko seeks the truth in a grandiose style with his chisel in hand and a colossal of imagination. His philosophy is to bring to people’s attention the gifts of an artistic talent from God, in the ways which Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael have been bestowed with their impeccable creations. Pasko’s talent is inherited by his desire to study the masters and chisel with compassion evoking his signature in a wood architecture in exalting structure. Pasko’s desire is to share his talents and creations with the world, and he knows that “this is his purpose in life.”
Pasko’s work can be expressed as a physical illustration expressed in a wood medium. His wood crafting gives “birth to” the visualizations of the characters he is creating, similar to when God created each of us. However, Pasko uses wood to bring it to life through the use of a chisel and scalpel with precise augmentation and surgical incision forcing the chips to crash to the floor and wood particles to form a cloud that blankets the artist at the right moment in time. Pasko’s execution in detail is symbolic of an artist “in love” with his art. Pasko has been blessed with a deep divine interpretation from God, so he can complete every piece.
Pasko’s unawareness of the 5h century wood crafting technique he uses was revealed to him one day by a friend who had read about this style in an architectural design book. The design style called “Yosegi Zukuri” which dates back to 530 BC is uncommon today. By using this unique technique, not only will the uniqueness and rarity of this art form contribute to impacting the art world, but people will further understand about the extreme detail, numerous hours taken in creating one piece and the hard work which goes into using this technique.
Pasko uses the “old school” method, chisel and mallet, chiseling out the design. He believes that when computerization is used, the uniqueness and rarity of this work is lost. Each piece produced must go through a process of steps which deals with the compression of multiple layers of wood, the formulation of a preliminary sketch outlining all the proper measurements, angles, cuts, etc. and then each of the wood blocks are tenaciously handcrafted to create a magnificent piece.
This particular joined wood-block technique is used because it gives added value to the wood for the duration of the life of the piece. There are statues in existence today which were created by this technique dating back to 1300 years ago. This technique allows Pasko to go through tenacious creative acts to capture every detail and unique characteristics and personality of the individual being portrayed. The result is a highly detailed piece which is a rare and exclusive collector’s piece of art. The statues, ranging from life size to small scale which Pasko produces feature human hair, fingernails, and all of the accessory items are made from scratch in wood, such as clothing, boots, weapons, etc.
Pasko produces these originals with limited editions so they can be reproduced by the workers in the Turning Point Co-Op. Original art pieces and the limited editions are sold in support of Through His Hands Foundation. Miracles In Wood creates artwork products to be sold on a retail level.
